U16’s reach County Finals

Ross Juniors under 16s made it through to the HFA youth cup final following a hard fought 2 - 1 win against Lads Club.

Lads Club have been one of the strongest teams in Herefordshire for a number of years and were strong favourites going into the game, but a spirited performance saw Ross fully deserve their win and book their place in an Edgar Street final in May.

On a wet pitch both sides had chances in the early exchanges, but Lads Club went ahead on 30 minutes when the striker beat the offside trap to finish well, this is how the score remained until half time.

After a strong talking to at half time, Ross started the 2nd half strongly and scored a deserved equaliser when Soyam fed the ball to Fin, who deceived the keeper with a shot/ cross that beat him at the near post. This gave Ross the confidence to keep attacking and with 15 minutes remaining they took a deserved lead when Oli finished well, when played in by Ted. Ross continued to make chances but could not find the all important 3rd goal to kill off the game, and were indebted to keeper Theo who made an important couple of late saves.

Ross Juniors u15’s will now look forward to their first County Cup final as a team at Edgar Street in May.
