GIRLS FOOTBALL

Ross Junior Girls started training in August 2011, prior to this the girls had been part of the boy's section. Since then this section has flourished making the club one of the largest girls' clubs in Herefordshire, and building a reputation regionally with on and off-the-field activities and achievements. As it currently stands we can proudly boast 11 of our players going on to join WSL academies such as Bristol City,  Aston Villa, Birmingham City and WBA. Sunderland's Mary McAteer and  Bristol City's Amelie Curtis have both gone on to represent Wales in their respective age group.

2016-17 saw another successful season for our girl's section, the stand-out event being the Under 10's becoming FA National Futsal Champions for England, after successfully winning the regionals and county heats. To put this into context the other National age group winners were Tottenham Hotspurs, AFC Wimbledon, and Crystal Palace girls.

The 2017-18 season saw the club running 8 junior teams. A successful Isle of Wight tour took place as well as club visits to support England Women's games. We also see the continuation of our ever-expanding female section giving our girls a complete pathway from junior to adult football. We had 30 ladies currently training with many ex-junior players being part of this. We also started our Wildcats programme which was a great success with over 30 Wildcats attending.

2018-19 was another fantastic year with many teams reaching respective finals and our U12s winning the Gloucester Girls League and becoming FA National Futsal Runners Up, second in the whole country! The girl's section also went on tour to Paris and performed brilliantly against Parisian sides.

The 2019/20 and 2020/21 seasons saw limited football due to Covid. 2021/22 thankfully saw a return to football with more teams being added to the club and the season finished on a real flourish with 3 County cups being won and 110 of us watching the Lionesses triumph at Wembley in the Euros Final.

The 2022/23 season saw another great season with a line up of talented and committed child-focused coaches and ever-increasing players. This season saw the creation of a female main pitch and a new Women's team in the Midwest Counties League who also reached the County Cup Final, the majority of the players being with the club since 2011 and our formative years of the girl's section. A real pathway in action with our U16's also winning County Cup.

2023-24 sees the club fielding 2 Women's Teams and 8 girls teams. Our pathway continues.

The aim is to carry on increasing numbers and teams and the club welcomes players from all over. Currently, the squad boasts players from Ross, Hereford, Ledbury, Abergavenny, Monmouth, Raglan, Newent, Tewkesbury and the Forest of Dean. Each season's success on the pitch is equalled by friendship and memories off the pitch.

U6-7 Wildcats

Our Wildcats were created following our successful 2021 Wild cats programme and are for girls in reception to year 1 and 2 who are either too young to play in a league or just want to train and play occasional games.

Training is Monday from 6-7 pm, and the plan is for the girls to train occasionally with other teams/clubs as they build their skills and play up.

With Georgeanna and Holly, the girls are in good hands and are always having fun.
