U14 Girls County Champions

Ross U14 girls played Tupsley Vixens in the final of the Herefordshire County Cup last night.

In a massively intense game which was a superb demonstration of girls grassroots football,m, the 1st half saw a bit of a frantic start as both sides tried to try control the game , but it settled down after 10 mins into good passing play. Ross eventually started to take control and following strong attack Tupsley made an unfortunate mistake, scoring an own goal. Tupsley quickly regained composure and made a storming attack resulting in a goal in the 24th min. Ross picked their heads up and started to rebuild, making their way back up the pitch ending in a fantastic goal from Lily I a few minutes later. The game was end to end with both teams have strong attempts on goal keeping the keepers busy. Ross had a breakthrough in the dying seconds of the 1st half with a goal from Harriet giving a half time score of 3-1 to Ross.

The 2nd half started a little raggy but again both teams settled quickly and soon got into the flow, with waves of attacks in both directions. Defence and keepers were working hard to keep the ball from the back of the net. The game progressed at pace but legs were tiring forcing the girls to dig ever deeper. The score remained the same to the final whistle. A true team effort from Ross, they played their socks off and produced the best football we have ever seen.

The girls truly rose to the challenge, combated their nerves and played with true belief to bring the cup home.

Congratulations to Tupsley Vixens who were superb and made it such a fantastic game to watch.
