Ross Women triumph in Ross Invitational cup
On Sunday 21st April at the Ross Sports Centre the clubs two senior women’s sides went head to head in the Ross Invitational Cup Final.
The game started with the Ladies side who wore their green away kit coming quickly out the blocks at Ross Women’s team but the women held firm and dealt with the early pressure. After 20 mins the women found the opening goal when a Cara pass in to Lauren saw her and Lilly play a neat one two and Lauren smashed home for 1-0
10 mins later the Women’s team won a corner and another one two this time between Macy and Holly M saw Holly fire home from 25 yards on the angle for 2-0
The game then seemed to slow down but then a quick injection of pace when Nelly found Macy whose through ball for the women saw them hit the Ladies on the counter and Holly T ran away to make it 3-0.
The Ladies didn’t give up and got there reward when a Dani shot on the angle flew in to the far corner just before half time for 3-1

SECOND HALF
Ross Ladies again came flying out the blocks and Mica, Abbie, Isabelle and Cara really had to work hard to keep them at bay with a couple of fine saves from Ruby. Ross Women wrestled back control with Macy, Holly M Scarlett and Lauren controlling the midfield and linking up with Holly T and Bea in attack who were playing some lovely triangles. This saw them on two occasions create good attacks, first Scarlett through but her lob bounced the wrong side of the post and then Bea whose effort also went wide. Danni then had an effort which hit the post for the Ladies. Before the heat took its toll and the game slowed down which eventually saw the Women run out 3-1 winners.
An excellent display of football shows the standard of female football is only getting higher and both teams should be proud of themselves and also of the club who are leading the way with others in female football in the County, well done all.
