At the start of a week when the Football Association are promoting girls football week with the hash tag #WeCanPlay, Ross Juniors are doing their bit for girls football in Herefordshire.
Training on Mondays now sees close to 100 girls training from reception age up to 16 years old. The girls training are not just from Ross, we now proudly boast players from Eastnor, Ledbury, Monmouth and Raglan.
At the start of the week the club hosted the first Herefordshire under 8 girls tournament of the season. With 6 teams entering and 33 players accompanied by over 100 spectators it was a hectic and fun morning. Also there was an inter club match between Under 10 Junior girls and Colts which finished even with some great skills on show. The Under 12's won at home 3-1 to Leominster and Under 14 girls away to Lads Club Vixens 1-0.
The under 16's are blossoming and are looking forward to upcoming friendly games and there are talks beginning now about a ladies team starting up. Quite an achievement in 4 years.
