Ruby signs for Villa

Ruby Wood who plays for our U14 girls has joined Aston Villa Academy for the 2020-21 season this week after a successful trial period. Since the age of 7, Ruby has been training with the club alongside her twin sister Scarlett. Ruby as a goalie has also been training with our goalkeeping coach Allan Hawkins and this has paid off for her greatly, the extra coaching and Ruby's commitment ensured she recently had a brilliant season. Now Ruby will line up for Villa playing the highest standard of girls football for her age in the country. She has already faced Man Utd and is looking forward to games against Arsenal, Birmingham City and Man City. A special mention must go to her committed family and in particular grandparents Linda and Andrew who have travelled the country in support of Ruby's football. The club looks forward to seeing Ruby develop further and have more success.

Ruby is the eighth Ross girl to join an Academy since the club started their girls section 6 years ago. Anna was the first, joining WBA. Mary, Caitlin, Eva, Hannah and Maisie have represented Bristol City and Amelie has played for Villa and now Birmingham City. Other girls have had trials and many more will follow into the future. Mary has represented England and Wales and Amelie has played for Wales. Quite an achievement for a small rural town in South Herefordshire.
